Origins of Bingo

So just where did the game of bingo begin.
Bingo is thought to originate in Italy back as early as the 1530’s, it is thought to originate from a game the Italians called Lo Guioco del lotto d” italila (which is still running today) This is thought to be the first recorded version of the game. Some believe however the origins go right back to the Romans and a game they used to play using numbers stones although there is no recorded proof of this.
The French used to play a game in the sixteenth century called le lotto and this is the closest resemblance to the game as we know it now, using tokens playing cards and the calling of numbers. The actual word BINGO is thought to come from the game “Beano” played throughout the Americas during the 1920’s. It is said that one player was so excited to get a house she called “Bingo” instead of “Beano” hence the name stuck.
There is another version of events concerning the name “Bingo” … Players used to play another version of the game and they used bells which they would ring upon completion of there tickets this would sound a BING, later when the game evolved and the bells where discarded callers used the word “BINGO” to represent the sound the bells made.
However it came into existence the word Bingo is recognized around the world today.

On-line Bingo How to Chat

Since BingoPort.co.uk has launched it’s free bingo game and we have many new virgin bingo players I thought we better cover some basics like how to chat.
Chat is a feature that allows you to communicate with other players whilst logged into the game. Select chat room you wish to chat in (some clubs have more than one).
To enter a message in the chat room simply enter the text into the blank chat box and click Send or press Enter. Your message will appear on screen so other players connected to chat will see.
This feature is useful for you to compare how well you are doing compared to other players as well as building a strong online community and friendships.
Chat moderators will also use this facility to inform players of up coming jackpots, chat games and any current bonuses or promotions which maybe available.
Chat games are a way of providing additional fun for online bingo players, and all prizes/points (if offered) awarded for chat games will be credited directly to a players account.
Most on-line clubs require you to purchase cards in order for you to be eligible for chat game prizes/bonus points.
