Day one
It was a normal grotty day over London as I travelled into Kings Cross. With the anticipation finally over after a long build up, the day was finally here. Yayyyyyyyyyyy we were finally going to meet all the nutter’s from BingoPort.
I received a text message from donna1868 to tell me that she had arrived at Kings Cross station; I was ten minutes away myself by then and exactly on time.
We met up and swiftly decided to walk down to Euston via the pub to meet the rest of the guys who would be arriving soon.
A quick pint later and off we went, arriving with perfect timing to see that the train had just arrived. Chattycathy was the first to spot us followed by suziecolo and billy666. Cathy then tells us that her friend Tiffany will be arriving on the next train and asks if we mind waiting. No problem, we all pop outside for some fresh air while we wait. Soon the next train arrives and Cathy’s friend walks gingerly along the front of the station towards us. Cathy tells us we know who it is and after a few minutes of guessing we discover it’s not actually Tiffany BUT the one and only crazzeefroggggggggggggg LOL. Next stop Hotel, so we wander off in search of the taxi rank.
After a little tour of London we arrive safely at the Central Park Hotel.
Again we stop for some fresh air outside the hotel and who should come wandering round the corner? None other than Kaz and Steve. We all check into the hotel, dump our bags and scoot off to the nearest watering hole.
It didn’t take us long to sniff one out, and before long we were all getting to know each other. Kaz didn’t know who Tiffany was either and it was funny when crazeefrog started to play the crazeefrog tune. It took Kaz a long while to twig what was happening but it was worth it because eventually Kaz realised and leapt up and gave froggy a huge hug.
After a few more drinks and some laughing and laughing and some more laughing Cathy went back into the pub to get a drink, while at the bar she was told that we all needed to keep the noise down……What a cheek!!!!!
We decided that we were not going to stay where we weren’t wanted and thought we would go back to the hotel and see if the other group had arrived.
We got our room keys and popped off to dump our cases and have a short rest. While we were upstairs Donna’s mobile phone rang and it was sarah2373 and Alistair (Sarah’s b/f) Lisaw1976, becks, bimms1 and sydneysmum. After a little bit of confusion with Lisa and Sarah’s bookings they managed to get booked in and all disappeared off to dump their cases.
We told them that we were meeting back down in the bar at 4:30 pm to play free bingo in one of the hotels business rooms at 5pm.
While we were gathered in the bar all sitting nice and quietly enjoying a drink a tall handsome bloke walked up to us and asked in an Australian accent “ Are you guys BingoPort “. Well I knew who it was straight away and jumped up and introduced everyone to Scott, one of the people who run BingoPort who was over on a little bit of a trip.
We then got the nod off Kaz that the room was ready so we all went down and found we each had a fantastic goody bag with a name badge and loads of little treats inside, it contained three key rings two mouse mats a T shirt two stress balls and last but not least a bingo dabber each. Kaz also gave us each a BingoPort T shirt with the words “Welcome to the Nuthouse “on the back.
The bingo was fantastic, we didn’t stop laughing. Kaz called the numbers and handed out the Amazon vouchers to the winners. Scott went to the bar and got the drinks in. In amongst all of this one of the hotel staff came and closed the door because we were laughing so loudly. Can you see a theme starting here? LOL
After the bingo we all went to get changed and headed off for something to eat. The main consensus was food quick so we ended up in an all you can eat Indian buffet without identification labels on the dishes, well by that time we were all so hungry we didn’t care so we eat the unidentified dishes and made the Indian restaurant owners night. I think it was the most people they had ever had in there.
After the meal we went for a wander and found another watering hole to round the evening off. Once again we ended up being removed from where we were sitting outside and asked to move inside the building. By then it was lateish so we all decided to make our way back to the hotel and finish the night off in the bar there. Making arrangements to meet at 9:30 am in reception Donna and I decided it was time to end a lovely first day and retire for the night. Off to bed with thoughts of meeting a new lot of BingoPort players the next day.
Day two
After not much sleep and a dodgy moment with the bathroom light switch in the night, I unknowingly woke Donna up by flicking the main room light switch on and off. I woke up wishing for some more sleep, there was a lot of noise outside all night keeping me awake I think it kept some others awake too. It was nice and early 6 am arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so I crept around the room unsuccessfully trying not to wake Donna up. The saving grace was that the sun was shining, so we both got up showered, dressed and went down for some breakfast.
We met the others in reception at 9:30 well it was more like 9:50 but never the less we were all there. We were all checked out and ready to go round to the tube station to start our day out in London. First stop Kings Cross to meet the rest of the group just coming for the day. While we were getting our bearings outside the front of the station the lovely Lilian met us all. We got rid of our cases in the left luggage department and headed down to a little café I know for some proper breakfast while we waited for the train from York to arrive and the Bus from Swindon to get to London.
The café didn’t know what had hit it when we all piled in and sat down. The staff sprang into action and started to get all the brekkies on the go and in the mean time I went back to Kings Cross to meet Emmalouiseyork, baby Aimee, babygrub and boyner from the train. We went back to the café and waited for the call from 180martyn and chris7 to say that they had arrived.
One more trip back to Kings Cross station to meet Martyn and Chris who Donna spotted with her keen eyesight from 200 yards away. We got everyone else a one day travel card and off we set for the London eye. Between Donna and me we plotted an underground route to make it as easy as possible for everyone.
We eventually got to Embankment station and came out of the tube to brilliant sunshine and some people giving out free loaves of bread, which we all grabbed thinking we might find some ducks to feed later.
The decision was made to wander down the river towards the London eye passing bye street entertainers, school parties and plenty of joggers on our way. We eventual got to the Eye but the queue to get tickets was huge and so was the queue to get onto it, so all those that wanted to go on it soon decided against it. So it was ice creams all round and a little stop break as we had already covered so much ground and needed a little rest. More walking and more walking yes you guessed it to find a pub, but as we were unsuccessful we sent Cathy to ask some local workmen on their lunch break to point us in the right direction.
In the end Donna managed to guide us all in the right direction and eventually we found one.
What more could you ask for sunshine good company and a few bevies. This is where we were going to stay until it was time to make our way back to Kings Cross, the afternoon seemed to fly by and before we new it we were making our way back to the tube station to head on back towards the train station. The tubes were heaving as it was peak time, something I hadn’t taken into consideration oooops. We had a pram and a large group of people to keep together and managed to all get on the first tube but alas we then got split up trying to get onto the second tube. It was heaving and only myself, Emma plus pram managed to squeeze into the carriage leaving the others standing there waiting for the next one. In the mean time the Victoria line decided to stop running but luckily me and Emma had made it to Euston which is only a 5/10 min walk down to Kings Cross so we got off and had a nice stroll. Another group ended up getting a bus back part of the way with the help of Donna and the other group managed to end up outside the café we had breakfast in earlier that morning this was the group containing Kaz and co.
I am now very much coming towards the end of my day after saying good bye to the gang outside Kings Cross station I headed off home feeling exhausted after such a great time. I believe the others stayed for something to eat and Donna stayed with them until each of their trains home came. Top girl our Donna.
We all had a fantastic time and I can’t stress enough how well it all went even with me and my lack of knowledge of the underground. Trying to look like I knew what I was doing getting us all from A to B. I couldn’t have done the navigating without Donna’s help we did it together LOL. Oh and we never did find any ducks to feed, by my guessing there were probably loads of loaves left lying around London that day.
