  • Online Bingo – Tips for Child Safety

    October 6th, 2008

Bingo being a popular past time our children often witness us enjoying this great game. However our children might also get the idea that they can play the bingo games too. With the easy accessibility of the internet it is up to us as parents to ensure we keep our children safe from the easily accessible bingo until they are of 18 years of age, at which time we hope they will enjoy a game or two with us.

By law persons must be over the age of 18 to gamble in the UK. It is illegal for minors, those under 18, to do so. Whilst your children may find online bingo looking very exciting and loving the idea of winning money, it is our personal job as parents to make sure our children do understand that they cannot play bingo until they are 18 and why they are not able to play.

As most of us know, an online bingo chat room is not a place we want our children to be. Stranger danger is just as important online as it is in the ‘real world’. You can never be too careful when it comes to keeping your children safe and as with all aspects of the internet your children should be guarded from anything that you do not think is suitable for them. No parent would want their child to be talking to a stranger in any chat room on the internet which is just the same for the chat rooms that are featured in the bingo rooms on the sites that you may visit. Furthermore, we know that persons in bingo websites are over 18, I know I don’t want my child communicating with adults especially over the internet!

In online bingo chat rooms it is also important that you do not go into too much detail about your children. Players will ask all of the time the same question s about “How many children do you have" or "How old is your child" but some of them can also ask other, more personal questions. We as parents need to ensure we ourselves act cautiously to protect our children through our own online behaviour also.  Simply use your initiative and if you do not feel comfortable with people asking you these questions politely tell them so.

Do you have any other tips for parents to ensure the safety of their children online? If so, please let us know below.

Good Luck and Be Safe x
