Minister Educates Bingo Players On How To Make Money Without Actually Winning
July 1st, 2009
It is not often that a member of the government would actually suggest ways and means to expand your income without actually doing anything to earn it. Angela Eagle, the new Minister for Pension Funds in the UK Government, did precisely just that during her tour of Mecca Bingo’s Bingo Hall in Wallsend, Whitleybay. Bingo players were pleasantly surprised to hear that they could actually be getting a lot more money than their current incomes from unclaimed pension credits.
Ms. Eagle advised bingo loyalists at Mecca Bingo who were beneficiary’s of the State’s pension system, stating that they could be among the several people in the region who were losing out on funding, simply because they haven’t kept track of or were simply unaware of their pension credits. She stated in her official address, “Around 150,000 pensioner households in the north east are already getting Pension Credit but we know there are more who could be getting extra money but haven’t claimed and I want to get that cash into their pockets. I don’t want anyone to miss out on extra money they’re entitled to so we’re bringing the message to bingo and helping people apply for what is theirs.”
“Some pensioners were under the wrong impression that they were not eligible to receive the Pension Credits because they own houses or other safe assets,” she added. This is a wrong notion and even they can receive Pension Credits from the State’s exchequer.
Ms. Eagle also launched an informative 40-page booklet which seeks to provide assistance to senior citizens over the age of 60 on Real Help Now programs to help them tide over the economic crises. She was taking part in a special session organized by the Pension Service, along with other venerated pension experts, for addressing queries and providing advice to bingo patrons on issues regarding their pensions.
Mecca Bingo at Wallsend has expressed happiness at having been associated with the Pension Service for such a noble initiative. They reiterated that their bingo clubs were more social networking environments and people were getting together not just for an ordinary game of bingo. The scheme by the Pension service was also hailed as a marked success in highlighting the issues faced by pensioners and assisting the Pension Service personnel in extending support to not just them, but also their friends and families, who could derive benefits from the Pension Credit scheme.
