Twitter Launches New Bingo Variant Called TwitterINGO
July 31st, 2009

Online bingo enthusiasts who use Twitter are going to love TwitterINGO—a brand new online gaming application, entirely inspired by the classic game of bingo. TwitterINGO is not exactly bingo, but very much like it. This exciting new game is the creation of Definition 6, an Atlanta-based interactive marketing company.
Twitter, the popular social networking and micro-blogging site, has recently launched this brand new, bingo-inspired desktop application. Playing TwitterINGO is very easy; players who have played bingo can play TwitterINGO too. Instead of numbers, TwitterINGO is based on keywords. While numbers are called out in classic bingo, keywords are called out and struck off in TwitterINGO.
Each player of TwitterINGO receives 25 keywords. The TwitterINGO board is updated whenever the keywords given to a player match the keywords in a tweet or Twitter message posted by that player’s followers. Players should wait for 5 keywords to be matched. If the keywords along a diagonal line, down a line, and across a line are matched and struck off, the player wins. The rules of TwitterINGO are very much like those of classic bingo.
All TwitterINGO winners receive charming prizes—an attractive badge with the slogan “I Won TwitterINGO.” Players can display these badges on their Twitter pages or Facebook profile pages or individual blogs or websites. Definition 6 has also included a display board for the purpose of displaying the identities of the best TwitterINGO players. Interested players can view this display board at the homepage of TwitterINGO.
“TwitterINGO promotes social gaming and tests the collective knowledge of current industry trends and events discussed by the people you follow,” says the founder and CEO of Definition 6, Michael Kogan. “This application is an ideal way to extend the relevancy of Twitter in a fun and engaging way, and it helps users see if the people they are following are talking about things that are really relevant. Definition 6 looks forward to providing all Twitter fans and users with another engaging way to enjoy the micro-blogging site and to interact with their social networking community.”
Bingo enthusiasts who are interested in playing TwitterINGO can do so every week on Tuesdays at 3 p.m. US Eastern Time, for this is when TwitterINGO is played. This is indeed a unique variation of bingo, where keywords are used instead of numbers.
Since the game is brand new, one has to wait to know if it will become popular among Tweeps and online bingo enthusiasts.
