Labor Party MP Expresses Interest in Playing Bingo

August 31st, 2009

Labor Party MP Expresses Interest in Playing Bingo<br>

The local MPs are apparently of the opinion that, if they show more interest in frequenting local bingo halls and playing bingo, they can soften the hearts and minds of the aggrieved bingo-loving communities of the UK and gain more votes. The Labour Party, especially, is trying this bingo method to appeal to bingo enthusiasts. Playing bingo seems to be a desperate Tory measure to gain votes.

A land-based Mecca Bingo club has revealed the news that David Miliband, foreign secretary MP, responded favorably to a bingo invitation extended by Mecca Bingo’s Chief executive. The invitation was probably extended in a bid to save the bingo gaming industry in the UK, which is currently facing very difficult situations. A number of brick-and-mortar bingo halls across the UK have been forced to shut down owing to unfavorable political and economic conditions; and the UK bingo-loving communities blames the apathetic government for it. Mecca Bingo is one of the most active players in the “Save Our Bingo” campaign.

The focus of “Save our Bingo” campaign is to fight against the double taxation laws on bingo outlets, owing to which a large number of land-based bingo clubs across the UK are forced to bid good-bye to their bingo businesses. Currently, bingo clubs are being forced to pay a bingo tax of 22 percent, which has upset a number of bingo enthusiasts since it is leading to the closure of the very bingo clubs they had turned to for unlimited fun, entertainment, and top-quality social life.

The foreign secretary who responded to the Mecca Bingo invitation is apparently eager to work for the cause of UK’s ailing bingo industry. He had a great time playing bingo at the Mecca Bingo club in South Shields. He even tried calling out bingo numbers. Apparently, he realized the strong resemblance of calling out bingo numbers to shouting in the House of Commons. He was treated warmly by the bingo gaming community of South Shields; however, one wonders if this expression of interest in playing bingo would win the Tories any votes.

However, expressing interest in bingo appears to be a hot vote-winning technique adopted by the local MPs. One may expect more of them to pay unexpected visits to local bingo halls. Perhaps one ought to think about designing election cards to look like bingo cards with prizes attached just to add to the fun.

Hundreds of Gala Employees to Lose Their Jobs

August 30th, 2009

Gala Bingo

Recently, unfavorable economic, social, and political situations have forced one of the most prominent players in the bingo gaming industry, Gala Bingo, to shut down 5 of its land-based bingo clubs. Undeniably, this bingo gaming giant is struggling to keep its bingo business afloat. As a result of this, the company is going to terminate the employment of hundreds of its employees.

Gala Bingo held meetings in each of its bingo clubs scattered across the UK; and the unhappy news was broken to Gala Bingo employees all over the UK. Some of the Gala Bingo employees who are to lose their jobs include those who are currently on maternity leaves and vacations.

Gala Bingo blames the UK government bitterly for this sorry state of affairs. Allegedly, the UK government is unsympathetic toward the plight of the bingo industry in the UK. The bosses at various Gala Bingo clubs claim that the downfall of Gala Bingo as well as several other bingo clubs all over the UK is due to the increase in tax returns as well as the ban on smoking. Owing to these reasons, Gala Bingo operators are planning to cut down the number of managers in the 150 bingo clubs owned by this chain online bingo gaming company.

As per a memo observed by Your Money: “As you are aware, the bingo industry has, over the past two years, faced an unprecedented level of decline due to the impact of the smoking ban and punitive legislative change. As a result the company has reviewed every aspect of its business and a key part of this is the way in which our clubs are structured to meet the challenge.”

The memo explains the condition of Gala Bingo employees further by saying that all categories of employees will be equally affected by the recent changes in employment policies. This means that even top level employees such as assistant managers, deputy managers, team leaders, department controllers, and so on will not be spared. Gala Bingo is to devise a new structure of employment to replace the current one. The new structure will have room only for half the current number of people employed at Gala Bingo.

The changes in employment structure are to take place in the following month. The existing Gala Bingo staff will have to wait for exactly one month in order to learn whether they still have a job or not.

BingoPort Southport Meet by Chattycathy

August 30th, 2009

BingoPort Goes to Southport – 3rd Official Meet Review – by Chattycathy

HI – DE – HIIIIIIII CAMPERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Fri morning arrived and we are all getting ready to travel to Pontins Southport for the 3rd Official BingoPort Meet . There were people travelling from all over the country to come and meet up, Janep was coming from South Wales, Donna1868 was travelling from London and Kaz and Waco all the way from Newcastle, so there were people travelling from all around the UK to meet the rest of the nutty clan.

The morning started off with us all meeting at The Sands Pub across the road from Pontins! First to arrive were xxsharonjxx and missdong; obviously they were at the bar as soon as they were opening the doors at 11am lol. Next to arrive was Chattycathy who brought with her billy666 and suziecolos 2 girls; they were greeted by Kaz and Waco with their daughter. It was straight to the bar for us for some light refreshment after the long journey lol. Not far behind were billy666 and suziecolo themselves, they arrived 15 minutes later and from then on everyone started arriving in droves. There was harryjo, myheroian, savvy1, supersue44, codegirl and family, heffalump2008 and family, wiganfc2008 with his daughter, gillybean46 and the kids, barb56 and family to name just a few! The poor barman (who was working alone) didn’t know if he was coming or going, we did offer to help out behind the bar for free drinks but he declined lol. Once we were all at the pub we had a drink or three and had lots of piccys taken. We had to stay at the pub as we couldn’t get in our rooms till 4pm so we had no choice but to stay and drink. Billy666 decided to crack open a crate of beer from the back of the car as we were all sitting outside and we got caught drinking them, ooooopss! So we swiftly moved on into Pontins to check in.

Once in Pontins we all checked in arrange to meet at 7.30 for the night’s entertainment. Kaz handed out bingo port badges to everyone so we all knew who we were in case we didn’t remember after a few drinks lol. The rooms were ok, not as bad as we thought, they had dotted us about all over the complex, and they must have known the nuttas were coming!!!…… Everyone met about 8pm outside the club where they had a few fair rides, so that kept the kids entertained and even a few adults, even though a few of us felt a bit sick as we had been drinking in the afternoon! There was entertainment on in the bar and the drinks were flowing, harryjo, supersue44 and myheroian hit the dance floor showing us a few moves , and we got the pics to prove it lol, we had a great night drinking and dancing and everybody hit the sack about 2am apart from a few that stayed up later – the party animals!!!.

Saturday had a great entertainment day planned at the beach, complete with a bbq and some beach bingo! We arranged to all meet up at 1pm so that everyone could let the kids go swimming in the morning, some played crazy golf, others went karting or had a go on the zip-wire, and there was plenty to keep everyone occupied while Kaz, billy666 and chattycathy went off shopping to get the burgers hotdogs and drinks for the kids. We hit the beach at 1pm with gazebo ready to put up ………. Well let’s just say it wasn’t as easy as we thought , chattycathy, billy666, waco, kaz and malc (barbs hubby) tried to put it up with some difficulty, it was upside down wrong way round leaning to the left leaning to the right lol. Eventually after about an hour we managed to get it up. And the fun began. Burgers went on the barbie everyone made themselves comfy on the sand the sun was blaring, sexysandy79 thought she was in Mauritius and the costume came on lol. Kids had the buckets and spades, adults had the tinnies, and we were raring to go lol.

Kaz the bingo caller then made her entrance, we played stand up bingo (if a number on your ticket is called you sit down until one person is left standing) and dabber bingo with a lot of laughs. There were some great prizes and lots of lucky winners including hottottie, gillybean46, jenny25643, mulberry40, heffalump and also quite a few of the younger ones, prizes included Amazon Vouchers and toys for the kids. The grand finale was a super game of bingo where the winner got an all expenses paid trip on the next meet! Everyone was unusually quiet during this game and concentrating very hard lol. Even the kids were quiet, they must have realized what was a stake here haha! Harryjo shouted for a line, and as tension mounted crazyrazor (heffs other half) shouted for 2 lines and our lucky winner of the full house was winniewinniewinnie (mulberrys mum) Wooo Hoooo WTG, piccies were taken of the lucky winnie and then waco handed out lots of freebies to everyone inc BP shirts and bingo goodies. The kids all had a bash at the piñata which was full of toys and sweets (I’m sure you can guess when it finally broke it was a mad dash) LOL We did get a few strange looks off people, 50+ of us sat on Southport beach all shouting HOUSE, they must have thought we were on a special day out from the day centre lol. We all made our way back from a great afternoon to get refreshed and ready for the evening’s entertainment which included us all in fancy dress!

Sat night arrived and we all met outside the club again, there was some great fancy dress costumes, check out the pictures to see them all. It was so nice to see people joining in; those that hadn’t come in fancy dress wore the BingoPort shirts Kaz had handed out at the beach in the afternoon. Once in the club we found out there was a Take That tribute band on and they were amazing!!! Prizes were handed out again for the best fancy dress costumes, among the winners were monypennys son who was the best doctor Kaz had ever seen, and suziecolos daughter because she was a superb clown! So it was drinks and dance moves once again. Everyone was rocking and that wasn’t just the alcohol lol. A great night was had by all; I think most people were partying into the early hours. Chattycathy, suziecolo and myheroian were on their way home when savvy came running and said supersue had fallen, we took the injured sue into a room 2 young lads let us use and got the first aider to her. Poor sue looked like she had been in 10 rounds with Ricky Hatton bless lol she still had a smile and a laugh about it though .

Sunday morning everyone met and went to Southport Pleasureland for the day – woo hoo a fun fair! First to go on a ride was hottottie with a huge hangover !!!! Needless to say 10 minutes later she was sick and had to go back to her apartment loll. We had a fab day at the fair, some of us were a bit green going on some of the rides as we had huge hangovers from the night before, but no one fainted or collapsed so wasn’t too bad lol. Sunday evening everyone met again in the club, some people were drained from a hectic 2 nights of partying so it was a bit quieter . (Thank heavens though Pontins I bet ) lol. There was more entertainment on they had dancers from Moulin Rouge and a few oldies from Grease . Most people opted for an early night Sunday as they were driving home the next day .

Monday morning and we all met at the club to have some brekkie and to say our goodbyes. A few had already left early to set off for their journey and had said their goodbyes the night before. Everyone said they had had a fantastic time and last to leave was Waco, Kaz, Suzie, Chatty and Billy as usual lol….

Everybody had an amazing time it was so nice to meet so many people, this meet was the most we have had and it was amazing to put so many faces to names . Everybody got on so well and I am sure I can speak for everyone when I say this was the best BingoPort meet we have had, it was fantasticcccccccc.

A big cheer to BingoPort for arranging this and an even bigger cheer for Kaz for all the hard work she put into it, she made it a very special weekend for everybody and I am sure everyone is looking forward to the next one!

More photos will be up soon!
