Old Gala Bingo Club to Be Converted into Evangelical Church

August 30th, 2009

Old Gala Bingo Club to Be Converted into Evangelical Church
The KICC Evangelical Church as well as City Screen has shown strong interest in the old and disused Gala Bingo Club, which is located in Upper Norwood in South London. KICC would like to convert the bingo club building into an Evangelical Church. On the other hand, City Screen would like to convert it into a movie house that would screen foreign language and art house movies.

The Gala Bingo Club was among the several land bingo clubs that have been shut down recently much to the sorrow of Upper Norwood’s bingo-loving community. Bingo enthusiasts are very discontented about the UK government apathy toward the fate of the ailing bingo gaming industry in UK.

Apparently, the local people are not happy about KICC’s plans. More than 5,000 people in Upper Norwood have placed their signatures on a petition against the conversion of the bingo club into a church. Those who staunchly oppose the church plans feel that a movie house would serve the community better than an Evangelical Church.

Currently, the home of the KICC Evangelical Church is in Wimbledon. They have plans to move to Upper Norwood and already own the freehold to the old Gala Bingo Club. However, they might find it very difficult to convert the club into a church without a fight.

The chief operations manager of KICC, James McGlashan, in an interview with Croydon Today, said: “Its intention is to use the building as a centre from which the whole community could benefit. The church says it will actively support the community by providing skills training, counseling services, youth meetings and a children’s club.”

McGlashan also claimed that “local people would be welcome to use the café and bookshop planned for the centre. And they would be allowed to watch, free of charge, weekly showings of independent films,” which he labeled as “good family entertainment.”

The local people, despite their protests against transforming their beloved Gala Bingo Club into a Church, do not have the power to make decisions. The matter is now in the hands of the Bromley Council. This council is to come to a decision after making a careful study of the plans laid down by KICC Evangelical Church and after determining if the construction of the church would really be of value to the local community. Currently, the people of Upper Norwood simply have to wait for the decision made by the Bromley Council.

August 30th, 2009

New Side Games at Platinum Play Bingo
Platinum Play Bingo, a UK online bingo gaming site, has added 8 new side games to its list of exciting games. These games fit into the categories of pub-style slots, scratch cards, casual games, and video slots.

The new pub-style slots include Lucky Darts and Billion Dollar Gran. Lucky Darts features 3 screens, of which one is a main reel flanked by a features game screen and a super game screen. Billion Dollar Gran, as its name suggests, displays grandmother-themed icons such as knitting needles, bowls, Battenberg cakes, tea cups, and many more. Players can activate its video feature game by matching 3 bowls along a payline.

The two new scratch card games are Turtley Awesome and Hairy Fairies. Both scratch card games are played in the same way. Out of the 12 turtles or fairies, players must make a selection of 9 and match 3 in order to get exciting prizes. Of the two, Hairy Fairies is specially designed to make players laugh. Turtley Awesome displays 12 turtles on their surfboards in the sea. Whenever players select a turtle, it flips over on its surfboard in order to reveal the prize it is hiding.

The new casual game is Three Wheeler, which has 3 wheels instead of dice. Bets are already placed in case of this game; and players have to match these bets in order to collect the prize. All the 3 wheels can spin on their own.

Three exciting video slot games have to added in Platinum Play Bingo—Big Break Slot Machine, Harveys Slot Machine, and Don Deal. The Big Break Slot Machine has 15 paylines and 5 reels, with an attractive array of monkey, ape, and fruit icons. The Lucky Break icon appears on the fifth reel, permitting wins in 2 directions. Other attractive features that this slot game includes are wild icons, scatter icons, free spins, and bonus features.

Harvey’s Slot Machine has 25 paylines and 5 reels; in addition, this slot offers multipliers galore and free spin features. To win a large number of exciting prizes, players only have to match the Snail and Champagne icons.

Don Deal is a classic slot machine, simply designed. There are 3 reels and 1 payline. The Cash Stack is the wild icon. The slot does not have any additional features. In order to win, players simply have to spin.

These new side games are sure to attract a number of bingo enthusiasts to Platinum Play Bingo.
