Interactive Playnet Halts Online Bingo Operations Of Its Yougotbingo Network
December 23rd, 2009
Interactive Playnet, an internet gaming solutions provider with widespread interests in the online bingo industry, recently announced that they had halted all their online bingo operations. The online bingo activities of the company had been on a standstill for the past one month ever since a Swedish company acquired it. The Swedish company intends to develop specialised internet gaming solutions for the European market and reports suggest that they are wary of the legal ramifications of accepting deposits from players based in the US.

Ever since the Gambling legislation and the wire transfer regulations were significantly amended by the United States government a few years back, gaming companies have either desisted completely from accepting deposits from US players or only conditionally doing so. Very few gaming websites continued to accept US players and the ones operated by Interactive Playnet were among these. While the legal community is divided as to whether it is actually against the law to accept deposits from US residents, it is apparent that the Swedish owner of Interactive Playnet does not wish to take any chances and wants to play safe. However, with several high profile internet bingo websites under its belt, including BulldogBingo.com, ComedyBingo.com, EmeraldBingo.com and ChurchillBingo.com, and millions in player balances on account with the company, Interactive Playnet has been forced to completely suspend operations until a suitable way out can be devised.
A spokesperson for Interactive Playnet said, “Due to the size of the player funds and the seriousness of how this affects us operationally, we have been forced to suspend online bingo operations.” Meanwhile the outstanding player balances have been transferred to a separate entity, Bingo Entertainment.
Interactive Playnet’s bingo network called the Yougotbingo Network is heavily dependent on its American clientele. The Swedish company’s reluctance to have an exposure in the legally wrangled US market meant that the Yougotbingo Network had to die an untimely death. While many players have been left visibly angry and confused, the company has assured that their money is safe and has been transferred entirely to Bingo Entertainment. Bingo Entertainment is an online bingo company with proven expertise and over 11 years’ experience in the online bingo industry, catering almost exclusively to American players.
Commenting on the closure of the Yougotbingo Network, COO of Interactive Playnet Nigel Simmons said, “The American market is currently unpredictable and turbulent in nature. With the added complicated legal issues surrounding this area of online gaming, it is unfortunate, but wholly understandable, that the new software operators do not wish to continue accepting American depositors. In light of this, we are grateful to Bingo Entertainment for stepping in and welcoming all IPN player accounts to their networks.” The CTO of Interactive Playnet, Lars Gunderson added, “We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience in the industry and have enjoyed providing an unrivalled gaming platform to our playing community. We are sad to say goodbye to our loyal roomies and staff, but felt the necessity to exit the USA market at this time. We would like to wish the new owners the very best as they are committed to building upon the established popularity of the games and taking the software in a very different market direction. We extend our many thanks and warm wishes to all staff and associates with the project.”
