Woman Wins $1 Million From Foxwoods Bingo
July 11th, 2011
Bingo players are always excited to hear about jackpot wins and million dollar prizes, but few of them really believe that they could be a winner. However, if you had attended the 25th Anniversary celebrations of the Foxwoods Resort Casino’s Firecracker Bingo you may have ended up winning a lot of money!
The celebration was launched to commemorate the completion of 25 years of the bingo hall run by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe. The bingo hall at Foxwoods is a high stakes bingo parlor and is known to have a loyal fan base. Foxwoods later announced its winners in a press release and of all the winners, Jennifer McKenzie stood out with her million win.
There were several winners at the bingo hall at Foxwoods over the weekend, one of which was Jennifer McKenzie, who ended up winning a total of $1 million as the grand prize. McKenzie was also accompanied in the winner’s league by Victoria Rawlings, an employee of the Newport News. And while McKenzie, a Niantic woman won the million dollar prize, Rawlings won a brand new hot Chevrolet Corvette 2011. The car was worth a total of $73,000 and was given away as the ultimate door prize.
Victoria Rawlings was very excited about her win and appeared to be looking forward to a lot more bingo action. “My Lucky Troll and my magic Bingo Dabber are packed as we speak,” she said.
The bingo hall was opened in the year 1986 by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and was fairly successful in its initial stages. It was only 6 years later that the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe formed the Foxwoods Casino that took the bingo hall under its banner. The bingo hall is able to accommodate 3500 players and is reputed to be the largest bingo hall in the entire country. Several of their employees have worked with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and the Foxwoods Resort Casino for more than 20 years and enjoyed the bingo celebrations along with company officials.
As part of their celebrations the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and the Foxwoods Resort Casino gave special recognition to employees who had been with the company for over 20 years. Michael Holder, the Vice President of Bingo Operations in the Foxwoods Casino, Resort and Bingo Hall thanked the bingo players who had been customers with the company for many years. “What’s important is the customers. If you didn’t like to play bingo then none of this would be here. Thank you for standing behind the tribe and bingo,” he said.
