  • Country Crossing Bingo Hall Drops Closure Plans

    July 12th, 2011

    Country Crossing Bingo

The Country Crossing Bingo Hall, now renamed the Center Stage Alabama bingo hall has decided to remain open to bingo players despite internal pressure to close down on account of low player traffic.

The Country Crossing Bingo Hall was at one point of time a reputed bingo parlor with a decent sized chunk of player traffic. However, bingo hall lost its revenue and a large percentage of its members when the State of Alabama sent authorities to raid and evaluate electronic bingo operations in the area. The Country Crossing Bingo Hall eventually closed down in 2010 but was later reopened under a new name, perhaps so as to lose the stigma attached to its old name. Ronnie Gilley, the original creator of the Country Crossing Bingo Hall proved to be the source of its destruction as well when he was tried on charges of bribery and was involved in the bingo corruption trial. Although Gilley is not involved any more, the bingo hall swayed under the bad publicity.

Renamed the Center Stage Alabama bingo hall it provided bingo games on a smaller scale to local players. Unfortunately for the Center Stage Alabama hall, it was not able to pull in player traffic – even on its opening night. And, although its numbers were dismally low in comparison to their expected turn out, the bingo hall has decided to remain optimistic and stay open.

Frank Wendt, who manages the bingo games at the Center Stage Alabama bingo hall commented on the matter. “It’s probably the most conservative approach we could have taken. The bingo hall consists of touch-screen computer monitors set up on long tables…Operators said the largest prize won over the weekend was $1100…”We hope over time the people will adapt to these machines. We know this is the first run and that changes will have to be made to make it more enjoyable,” he said.

The Center Stage Alabama bingo hall also received some comments from players who claimed that the bingo games features at the gaming hall were not interesting and that their new games were boring. The new bingo hall reopened with about 600 electronic bingo machines that have the appearance of ordinary desktop computers as one would use at home. The Center Stage Alabama bingo hall also has 500 staff and houses 2 restaurants to keep their bingo players well fed and provide meals after a bingo game.
