888ladies Footy Survey
July 26th, 2010
With the future of the England coach Fabio Capello still unknown and a week left until the FA make their decision, the nation (well the women at least) have decided!
888ladies.com surveyed 2500 women across the UK to discover who they thought could do a better job than Capello at kicking England into shape in time for 2014 and it’s Davina who they think could be "Fab"!

For a lady taking the top job over half (59%) believe Big Brother presenter Davina McCall would be perfect for the job, 24% identified Loose Women star, Carol McGriffin and 11% voted for model, Katie Price and just 6% for Lily Allen .
Just last week in the Big Brother house the English house mates beat the German house mates in a penalty shoot-out so maybe they believe Davina could coach the actual England squad to victory too. One woman commented on the fact that Davina’s maternal role could really help our team with some of their personal issues so they could really focus on their football instead. Another woman said that "Carol McGriffin could really knock those boys into shape". Katie Price was a bit of an odd choice but maybe it’s her ball skills that women thought could help!
When it came to a man for the job Chris Moyles came in first place with over 45% of woman choosing the Radio1 DJ as a better alternative to Capello, 31% identified business tycoon and star of the Apprentice, Sir Alan Sugar and 24% thought comedian James Corden could sort the boys out!
With his ability to work with and "cheer up" tired celebrities on his early morning Radio 1 breakfast show it’s not surprising that Chris was chosen as an ideal candidate to coach the England team. One woman commented that Chris would be great at, "keeping team spirits high as he did with his Kilimanjaro team and his humour would bond them together".
Sir Alan Sugar was a more surprising candidate but perhaps the ladies polled thought his time with Tottenham Hotspur combined with his no nonsense approach would be a winning formula!
Overall the consensus from 888ladies, one of the top online bingo sites in the UK is that Capello had a tough challenge on his hands but it’s time for one of the national treasures to take charge!
888ladies is offering thousands of pounds of prizes every week of the tournament plus the chance to win a grand prize of an exotic holiday of a lifetime to the winning country 888ladies.

What’s the Modern Bingo Alternative for Two Fat Ladies and Legs Eleven?
January 27th, 2010
Follow up to our article “Ban on Two Fat Ladies” here.
A recent survey revealed that 99% percent of bingo players were in favour of traditional bingo calls and wanted “Two Fat Ladies,” the bingo call for the number 88, and “Legs Eleven,” the shout-out for the number 11, to stay. About 4000 players took up the online survey, expressing their support for traditional bingo calls, stating that the calls should be allowed to remain even if they were perceived as politically incorrect by some.
John Sayers, on whom the ban was imposed by the Sudbury Council, appears to be standing behind the Council and the ban, although he does not personally approve of the idea of politically correct bingo. Sayers claimed that the decision was based on good legal advice and that Two Fat Ladies had no place in modern bingo, as it could cause offense.
As of now, no other bingo halls appear to be replicating the Sudbury Council’s ban in favour of modern PC bingo, and it is just possible that this debate over the political correctness of bingo calls will leave traditional bingo caller lingo untouched. Most of the bingo halls in the UK are still following traditional bingo calls and are using “Two Fat Ladies” and “Legs Eleven” much to the delight of the bingo players there.
One cannot help but wonder what alternatives modern bingo will bring to numbers like 88 and 11. Will it be the more boring “two fat peanuts” for 88 or “two matchsticks” or “Olive Oyl” for 11? Or will “Olive Oyl” end up offending the slim bingo players in the audience named Olive? Let’s consider a few other (non-laughable and untraditional) possibilities.
The number 88 is the shorthand code for signing “hugs and kisses” in ham radio as it looks like two lips kissing. Surprisingly, 88 is also the Neo-Nazi code for “Hail Hitler”, a catch phrase that will never make the grade, thankfully. In poker, a pair of pocket 8s is referred to as Snowmen, so perhaps a “Mr. and Mrs. Jack Frost” or “Two Snowmen” for a modern bingo call of 88?
Too or Two Politically Correct Bumble Bees for instance may be a little long for a caller to shout out, but its nothing if not PC.
Legs Eleven may not be replaced by “playing cricket” or “a blackjack ace” and although “one more and you’re a wicket” does sound just a bit better; there is just something to be said about legs!
Two fat ladies and legs eleven are so popular among bingo players that a bingo caller announcing anything else is likely to be booed off the platform, unless he can come up with the impossible – an alternative good enough to replace them.
Do you know some funny or weird calls and catch phrases for the numbers 88 and 11? Post your response below or join the discussion here.

Ann Summers Bingo Disappears Into the Night?
November 11th, 2009
Ann Summers Bingo, an online bingo portal in the UK, is yet another bingo gaming entity to fall under the onslaught of the economic turmoil that the world is under. The site has allegedly informed players of its closure via email. However, the site had never formally announced that it would be shutting down, but even news reports that claimed the possibility did not see a very strong response from the bingo gaming community.

A few blogs have marked on the ending of the site and expressed their regret at the situation, but other than that, it would seem that Ann Summers Bingo may pass quietly into the silence without being noticed.
Perhaps, this was because of the number of land based bingo clubs that have been forced to close their doors as a result of the 22% bingo tax. It may have become a little too commonplace to hear about a bingo club or portal closing its doors, and it is possible that the absence of Ann Summers Bingo, not one of the more popular bingo sites in the UK, will just be one more falling leaf from the UK bingo industry.
Since Ann Summers Bingo, is no longer open to players, existing members who are unaware of any rumours of the bingo site’s closure trying to access the site will find that they are not able to play bingo anymore. This may prove to be a big shock for players who are fans of Ann Summers Bingo.
Ann Summers Bingo is tied up to a gaming network from St. Miniver based in Gibraltar.
On visiting the site, players will see customer support links that will direct them to the gaming network. The site has been known to draw in a few male bingo players, although it did have a fair number of women gamers as well. The site also had a rather unconventional ways of showcasing their games with some adult themes. For instance, one of the promotional giveaways that Ann Summers Bingo was known to offer was a vibrator for its new players. Even the bingo callers at this site had a sultry voice and the numbers were called in a very innovative way.
Ann Summers Bingo was known to feature an average number of bingo games and had a small player group. Some of these games are available at LittleWoods Bingo and Yahoo Bingo.
