2017 BingoPort Players' Choice Awards Winners

The polls were closed, your votes were in, and all that was left was for the winners of this year's BingoPort Players’ Choice Awards the to be announced.

The ceremony was held in front of a packed audience on the evening of Friday 10th February in a sophisticated London basement bar, the Dirty Martini at Monument. Alongside nominees, those in attendance included other bingo operators and those involved in the affiliate bingo sector.

Each of the bingo awards was presented by BingoPort’s Director of Operations, Andrew Housego, who noted that while all trophies were closely contested, the sites that encouraged their players to vote had ended up with the strongest overall results.

Sun Bingo, which has recently undergone a site-wide revamp, dominated proceedings. Of the total 5 categories, Sun took home 3 awards, including Best Bingo Site 2017—the highest honour that you, our BingoPort public, could bestow. It was the ultimate seal of approval for the site’s update; its games now run off software produced by Playtech, market leaders in casino technology.

As well as winning Best Online Bingo Promotion, Sun Bingo was also named as the brand with the Best Bingo Community. Previously awarded to sites with the Best Bingo Chat Hosts, developments within the industry—where many sites now either share rooms or outsource their CMs from other countries—led BingoPort to focus this year on the higher value of a deeper relationship between players.

A strong community spirit is something that no doubt also contributed to the success of newcomer, Katie’s Bingo. Husband and wife dream team, Shaun and Vicki Baptie, may have a small marketing budget, but have engaged players with their strong branding and personal dynamic. They were rewarded for their efforts when your votes ensured them victory in the Best New Bingo Site genre. The award is a strong indication of greater success yet to come, and it’s clear from the site’s popularity that Katie’s is here to stay. Totally new to 2017 was the Best Innovation in Bingo category. Butlers Bingo bagged the prize for their Spinner Room. Open for 6 hours each evening, it affords customers the opportunity to win free spins for mere pennies. With over 200 slot games on site, there’s no limit to the fun in store, especially when progressive jackpots are up for grabs too.
