After months of excitement, another thrilling series of The X Factor finally came to an end this month, with a grand finale packed with suspense, laughter and heartbreak. The sizzling battle ended with none other than fan-favourite Matt Terry being crowned the winner of The X Factor 2016. He started out as one of the top artists, and while he lost a little of his shine mid-series, he regained his footing to take the crown on the final night of the competition. As well as performances from contestants Terry, Saara Aalto and 5 After Midnight, the live final also featured performances from Little Mix and Madness. Terry chose Sam Smith’s Writing on the Wall as his favourite song of the series. And his final performance was a show-stopping rendition of the 1980 hit One Day I’ll Fly Away.

I’m A Celebrity came to an end after weeks of torture, torment and pure terror… and none other than the bookies’ favourite Scarlett Moffatt came out on top. The new Queen of the Jungle finished ahead of Joel Dommett and Emmerdale star Adam Thomas—but with Moffatt having established herself as a fan fave from the very beginning, the results came as no real surprise.
Moffatt overcame her claustrophobia by taking on the Cavern of Claws in her final bushtucker trial. We have to say, we think she definitely deserved to win! She hopes to return to Gogglebox with her family next year—she’s definitely got a lot of opportunities lined up for her now. We can’t wait to see what she gets up to next.

Strictly Come Dancing came to an incredible end this month with none other than Ore Oduba dancing his way to the top. And boy, were we happy to see him lift the glitterball trophy. The grand final was filled with top scores from all three contestants—and it was definitely a close call. Oduba and his partner Joanne Clifton came out top, with the other two couples in the final coming joint second. The final decision ultimately came down to the voters at home. Oduba’s final dance reprised his week 4 jive, earning him straight 10s (which he totally deserved).
Not only did this month mark an end of Strictly for the year, it also marked the end of judge Len Goodman’s reign on the show. We’ll no longer hear his trademark ‘it’s a 10 from Len’—we’re heartbroken! Needless to say, the final was filled with emotion, heartbreak and pure nostalgia. Good old Len received a standing ovation from the judges and the crowd—it was a truly great send-off.

2016 has been a turbulent year—full of ups and, sadly, many downs. This year, we’ve had to say many tearful goodbyes to a number of famous icons. In case you’ve forgotten, check the above image by christhebarker. It depicts all of the celebrities that we have lost in 2016, in the style of the Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ album cover. It hurts to even look at it...
You’ll probably be able to notice that this emotional picture has three new additions from December. Christmas Day saw the loss of singer George Michael—sparking worldwide heartbreak. We won’t be able to listen to Last Christmas without crying now.
And if that wasn’t enough to utterly destroy us, Carrie Fisher, most notable for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise, died days after suffering a heart attack on an airplane. Needless to say, we’re still reeling from that loss. And if that doesn’t have you reaching for the tissue box, this next part definitely will—Debbie Reynolds, famous actress and mother of Fisher, died one day after her daughter from a suspected stroke.
We can only hope that 2017 will be a better year for us all...

There have been quite a few surprising and suspenseful soap moments this December. However, we all know that the really juicy and exciting soap moments come on New Year’s Day. So, we decided to mention a soap moment that we’re looking forward to the most on New Year’s Day.
And what other soap could we possibly go for other than our favourite, Eastenders? We think there’s going to be enough surprises in Albert Square to leave everyone clutching at their seats in suspense.
As you might know, Ronnie and Jack are due to be married. While that might sound nice on the surface, any Eastenders veteran knows that New Year’s Day is cursed in this soap. From Ronnie and Charlie, to Barry and Janine—tragedy is the only outcome on this day. We have to say, we’re pretty worried for Ronnie and Jack—especially with the rumours floating around about Ronnie and her sister Roxy planning to leave Albert Square for good. How could this not end tragically?
Tune in next month to see whether Eastenders lived up to our high expectations or not!
