How To Stick To Your New Year Resolutions...With Bingo!

Every time a new year rolls around, we often find ourselves making resolutions (and if you still haven’t come up with any, then it’s not too late to check out our New Year Bingo Resolutions ideas to get a few pointers). Now, however, we’re a couple of weeks into January, and most of us will be struggling a little to make sure we keep on top of those resolutions—if we haven’t already broken them, that is.

If you’re feeling the strain (or lapsed a little), then don’t fret. We here at BingoPort have plenty of useful tips on how to stick to some of the most common resolutions—with a little bingo twist.

1. Exercise and Lose Weight

This has to be the most common resolution out there. We start off well enough, vowing to stick to healthy salads. We even fork out for a gym membership—promising ourselves that we’ll exercise for at least an hour every single day. But somewhere along the way, our motivation dips—and we’re left staring at our bathroom scales in utter horror.

TIP: getting a little exercise doesn’t need to be tedious. Switch up your bingo playing by heading outside to your nearest bingo club rather than playing at home—and make sure you walk (or even jog) there!

2. Spend Less & Save Money

So, you try to write out a monthly budget and you avoid buying that new gadget you really want. But soon enough, you’re going out with your mates, or spending even more money on bingo.

3. Get A New Job

Jobs can get monotonous—it’s a fact of life. And many people out there vow to get a new one in the new year. But let’s face it, it can be very difficult to actually find a new job. Sometimes you can’t dedicate enough time to search for these jobs. And sometimes you’re not in a stable enough position to move jobs.

4. Travel

Whether it’s not having a flexible enough job, or not having any money left, you end up in a situation where you don’t actually travel anywhere. At all.

5. Stop Procrastinating

We’ve all been a slave to procrastination at some point or another—some people are worse than others of course. Some people procrastinate at work—putting off deadlines until the last second. Other people procrastinate over going shopping at the end of the week. The start of a new year is usually the time in which people try to self-manage. We write-up timetables and schedules—determined to never waste a second ever again. And yet… it somehow falls through.

6. Get More Sleep

If you can wake up for work every single morning without wanting to crawl back into bed—we want to know your secret. Most people in the UK don’t have that particular gift. In fact, most people are desperate to feel more well-rested. We try and we try—we skip our favourite soap in the evening in favour of going to bed early. We even try to go out less. And yet… we somehow end up staying up even later.

TIP: if you’re an all-nighter kind of bingo player, why not switch to the morning? While the evening can be easier (after a hard day’s work), earlier in the day is less busy so you have a better chance of winning. If you don’t have the time in the weekday for morning bingo, then play at the weekend instead and save up your weekly money.

7. Learn or Try Something New

How many of you have vowed to learn a new language? Or promised to try out something crazy like skydiving? We’ve all been there—desperate to do something new in the new year. But somehow things get in the way—we don’t have enough time to keep up with our new-found passions. And we don’t have the time or money to spend on those thrills we dream of.

8. Manage Stress Better

Stress is the bane of many people’s existence. No matter how hard we try, we still find ourselves on the brink of despair—whether it’s work or family, there’s always something to stress over. So with the new year, we try out yoga or jogging—anything to de-stress. And it works for a time, until we realise we’re too stressed to find the time to manage our stress—which makes the stress even worse.

TIP: bingo sites aren’t there just to play bingo on. You can chat to your fellow players and the CMs—vent out your frustrations, and enjoy a game of bingo with your bingo-obsessed friends—laughter is the best cure for stress after all.
