The Best of Bingo TV Adverts
Let’s face it: 2016 has been a bit of a tough year. Just this past week, we’ve seen the election of one of the most controversial US presidents in history, the passing of Leonard Cohen, and some seriously gloomy weather descending over the British Isles. So, we figured people might be in need of a bit of a pick-me-up.
Well, what better way is there to cheer up than with bingo? Here at BingoPort, we’ve put together a list of some of the best bingo adverts out there—although, when we say “best”, we mean cringiest, funniest, and most questionable. So, switch off the news, sit back, relax, and enjoy the best that bingo has to offer!
1. Jackpotjoy Bingo
Barbara Windsor is nothing less than a British TV institution—so it’s no wonder that as soon as her time on EastEnders finally came to an end, she was immediately snapped up by Jackpotjoy.
Poor Barbara can’t bake to save her life in this advert—so, like a pro, she pretends to look like a master chef by taking out a ready-made cake.
Our favourite part of the video has to be the moment that she confronts a dancing fox on her doorstep who looks remarkably like the Foxy Bingo mascot. Not taking any of his nonsense, Barbara shoves her cake in the fox’s face and proceeds to laugh hysterically. There’s no masking the shade that was thrown here—we imagine Foxy Bingo wasn’t too happy!
2. Paddy Power Bingo
Have you ever wanted to play bingo only to find that your husband is in the way? Paddy Power clearly knows how you feel! This video involves a poor and tragic woman who just wants to play a game of bingo or two. So, Paddy Power, hearing about her heartfelt story, sends over their husband-removal team. Off the husband goes into a van filled with equally annoying husbands, bound and gagged.
Clearly, Paddy Power Bingo is so great that you need to be completely alone to fully enjoy it! We thought this was a pretty relatable advert—though we think they could do with doing a male equivalent, so the male bingo players out there won’t feel left out!
3. Foxy Bingo
Would this really be a list of the best bingo adverts without one involving a cringey jingle or musical? Of course not! So, of course we had to go with the powerhouse that is Foxy Bingo! Their advert puts a new spin on our fave Grease song ‘You’re The One That I Want’, situated in a supermarket complete with singing and dancing customers. Of course, it also features our favourite foxy mascot! And with lines like ‘I’ve got balls, they’re multiplying’, you’ll be laughing (or shaking your head) in no time!
4. Mecca Bingo
Why bother with subtlety? That seems to be Mecca Bingo’s motto at least! In the rush to get people to find out just how great Mecca is, they created this memorable 2013 advert. So when Mecca says big jackpots, they mean as big as an overgrown hair-do. And when they say hot promotions, they mean as hot as a shirtless fireman with glistening abs. You’ve got to love the simplicity of their marketing strategy!
5. Costa Bingo
We weren’t quite sure what to make of Costa Bingo’s interesting advert. It features none other than our favourite ex-Spice Girl Mel B roaming around London as a giant. Apparently, it was meant to emphasise how massive Costa Bingo’s jackpots were. But if we’re being quite honest, we just got a bit of a Godzilla vibe...but maybe that’s just us? That being said, we’re huge fans of Mel B, which probably explains why this is one of our faves!
